COACH TRAINING

Our Coach Licensing Program aims to create an experience that is a safe and rewarding experience for both athletes and coaches.

After registering as a coach but BEFORE you can ride with students, you must become a licensed Georgia Cycling Coach. While other youth sports programs do not require background checks and training, Georgia Cycling prides itself on a structured coach licensing program. We don’t want this training to seem overwhelming or to deter anyone from becoming a coach. The training is straightforward and not overly time-consuming, but it is a necessary step before coaches are permitted to ride with children.

We have three levels of licensed coaches: from Assistant Coach to Master Coach. Each level permits a coach to execute a specific set of responsibilities. All coaches are required to maintain an active Level 1 license in order to participate in Trail Rangers activities. Whether one progresses to Level 2 or 3 is totally up to the individual. Some coaches stay a Level 1 their entire tenure, while others are motivated to seek the Master Coach level.

Comprehensive liability insurance is provided by the Georgia Cycling Association and covers all licensed coaches for the duration of the season. Every adult riding with a Trail Rangers program must hold a current license to be insured during these activities.
