STUDENT MENTORS
The Georgia Cycling Association’s Student Mentorship Program connects middle and high school riders in our TeamMTB program with elementary-aged riders in our Trail Rangers program, fostering a culture of leadership, growth, and connection.
Through this program, TeamMTB student-athletes serve as mentors, assisting Trail Rangers coaches during local sessions. This hands-on experience allows older riders to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and give back to their cycling community, while younger riders benefit from relatable role models who inspire and support their growth on the bike.
Student-to-student mentorship strengthens both mentor and mentee—boosting skills, deepening engagement, and creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all riders. This program reinforces the values of teamwork, perseverance, and community that define Georgia Cycling.
REGISTRATION FOR 2026 STUDENT MENTORS OPENS ON JANUARY 2, 2026
PATHWAY TO MENTORSHIP
To become a 2026 Trail Rangers Student Mentor, a student must meet the following requirements and complete the necessary steps for registration:
Must be enrolled as an 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grader during the 2025-2026 academic year
Must have participated in the 2025 TeamMTB season (race series participation is not required)
Must write a letter to the Program Leader of your local Trail Rangers program stating how your role as a mentor would make an impact on the program and cycling culture.
Once approved, the Program Leader informs Georgia Cycling, who then activates the registration process to become a student mentor.
The student's parent/guardian may then use CCN to register their child as a 2026 Trail Rangers Student Mentor. Registration must be completed under the same profile used to register the student-athlete for the 2025 TeamMTB season. Do not create a new profile.
Student Mentor then successfully completes two online training courses:
